Summerfields Lodge is a Well-known tented lodge on the Sabie Road near Hazyview. The lodge sits within Summerfields Farm, 100 acres of rolling hills running down to the Sabie River and one of its tributaries. Orchards of macadamia and litchi trees cover the property. The Lodge, restaurant and spa occupy the area on the river.
Summerfields is just 7 kilometres outside Hazyview and is 17 kilometres from the Phabeno Gate of the Kruger National Park. The lodge is a favourite stopping off point for a couple of days of luxury for international visitors to the Kruger Park.
The Lodge
Accommodation comprises 12 luxury tented suites, surrounded by the music of nature – the sounds of cascading water, amplified by a choir of bird calls and the occasional snort of a hippo.
Attention to detail is evident in every suite, with specially designed furniture, percale linen and the tantalizing fragrance of fresh cut roses from the farm. All units are air-conditioned with additional roof fans, have double vanities, an outdoor shower and luxury bath, are stocked with quality toiletries and have a private fridge for the comfort of our guests.
Each suite has air-conditioning, roof fan, large bath sheets, bath gowns, tea and coffee making facilities, fridge, hairdryer, electronic safe, and a range of quality toiletries.
Two magnificent family houses are available for rent, each in its own private, fenced area, with pool.
The hospitality operation is extremely profitable and has a high occupation rate.
The Spa
The Spa is located by the river, just a short walk from the Tented Suites and River Café. Facilities include a steam room, Jacuzzi, Vichy shower, unisex change rooms and hydro walk along the banks of the Sabie, plus a beautiful pool overlooking the Sabie River, to relax after a spa treatment.
Restaurant
The River Café is a glorious culinary space in idyllic surroundings, reached via a forested walk, across a stone bridge and set on the banks of the Sabie River, where you can often see and hear hippos. There is also a Lapa Bar.
The Padstal
The Padstal is next to the main road and sells a wide variety of health, beauty and deli products, as well as drinks and roses from the Rose Farm on the property.
Financials
The orchards (the farm) is rented to a local macadamia farmer, generating a substantial income. The area above the Padstal is rented to a bistro/coffee shop.
Summerfields has been running very successfully for many years, and is now offered for sale.
