Construction work on FWJK’s R800 million residential development known as 16 on Bree has topped out with the 36th floor having recently been cast which will make it the tallest residential development yet to be constructed in Cape Town.
16 on Bree is a 372 apartment development including retail shops and is being constructed by Concor Western Cape. Dave Williams-Jones CEO of FWJK Developments advised, that notwithstanding the general shut down in the construction industry, completion of the development is still expected during October 2020.
Williams-Jones added that the project was currently creating a thousand jobs on site with a further 1,500 off site jobs being created through employment by multiple sub-contractors and suppliers.
The development, when completed, will provide much needed accommodation in the City Centre for both long stay and short stay residents. Construction work has stopped on the site and Williams-Jones hoped that the current lockdown will hopefully not be extended beyond the 17th April 2020 as the construction industry is one of the main employers in the economy.
