A Well-Maintained Kalahari Farm with Excellent Infrastructure, Reliable Water Supply and Natural Grazing

An Opportunity to Invest in the Heart of the Eastern Kalahari

Situated near Olifantshoek in the Northern Cape, this extensive livestock farm offers an exceptional opportunity to acquire a well-established agricultural property in the heart of the Eastern Kalahari. The region is renowned for its vast open landscapes, natural grazing and strong livestock-farming tradition, with sheep and cattle production forming the backbone of its agricultural activities. Covering an impressive 6,645.9383 hectares, the farm combines the distinctive beauty of the Kalahari landscape with established infrastructure designed for extensive livestock production. Its natural grassland and shrubland vegetation, extensive camp system and well-developed water infrastructure make it particularly suited to buyers seeking a well-equipped sheep or cattle farm.

Natural Grazing and Vegetation

The farm is characterized by Gordonia Plains Shrubland, with natural Kalahari grassland, established perennial grasses, shrubs and scattered grey camelthorn and camelthorn trees. This natural vegetation provides the foundation for extensive livestock farming in the region. With an indicated grazing capacity of 1 LSU per 15 hectares, the property offers an established basis for livestock production, subject to seasonal conditions and appropriate grazing management. Oryx (20) and a few springboks roam the open plains, adding to the authentic Kalahari character of the property.

Excellent Water Infrastructure

Water security is a key feature of this farm. The property is supplied by two boreholes, approximately 200 meters deep, equipped with solar-powered pumps. The Kalahari East Pipeline provides an additional water source and backup supply. Water is distributed by gravity from the boreholes and dam system to various parts of the farm, supplying seven dams and plastic water tanks. The system can be managed from a central reservoir, allowing convenient control and distribution of water throughout the property. The Kalahari East Pipeline has sufficient supply for approximately 400 large-stock units (LSU) on its own, according to the seller's information. The combination of borehole infrastructure, solar pumping and pipeline access provides a well-developed water distribution system to support the farm's livestock operations.

Fencing and Camp Infrastructure

The farm is divided into 26 camps, all with access to water, providing flexibility for rotational grazing and livestock management. The fencing is in very good condition, with jackal-proof perimeter fencing incorporating electrified wire. Selected internal fences are also electrified to assist with predator control. This established infrastructure provides a practical foundation for managing sheep and cattle while supporting efficient day-to-day farming operations.

Buildings and Improvements

The property includes a well-built farmhouse of approximately 280 m2, offering comfortable accommodation in a secluded farming environment.

Additional improvements include:

Large shed: Approximately 400 m2.

Storage outbuilding: Approximately 180 m2.

Additional outbuilding: Approximately 60 m2, incorporating a double garage, a room and a cold room measuring approximately 2.4 m × 2.4 m × 2.4 m.

Power supply: A 15-kW solar system, supplemented by Eskom electricity.

These improvements provide useful accommodation, storage and working space to support the farm's agricultural activities.

Privacy, Security and Seclusion

One of the property's notable advantages is its secluded location. No public road runs through the farm, offering greater privacy and limiting public access through the property. Combined with the extensive landholding, established fencing and natural surroundings, this creates an attractive environment for buyers who value privacy, security and independence in their farming operations.

A Farm with Heritage and Proven Infrastructure

Maintained within the same family for generations, this property reflects a longstanding farming heritage. Its extensive natural grazing established water infrastructure, 26 camps and substantial improvements make it an attractive proposition for an established livestock farmer or an investor seeking a substantial agricultural holding in the Eastern Kalahari.

If you are looking for a well-maintained, secluded Kalahari farm with established infrastructure, extensive natural grazing and a comprehensive water distribution system, this property deserves your consideration.
