Embrace productive country living in Legkraal, Limpopo — 65 km from Polokwane — on 330 ha with Sand River water rights and established irrigation for commercial tomato production.
Situated approximately 65 km from Polokwane in the sought-after agricultural area of Legkraal, this well-developed 330-hectare farm presents an excellent opportunity to acquire an established agricultural operation with extensive water resources, established irrigation infrastructure and proven commercial tomato production potential.
Combining reliable water availability, favourable climatic conditions, arable land and livestock grazing, the property offers a versatile farming opportunity with scope for further development and diversification.
EXCEPTIONAL WATER SECURITY & IRRIGATION INFRASTRUCTURE
Water is one of this farm’s greatest assets. The property benefits from registered water rights, the Sand River running through the farm, a river weir, an approximately 80,000-litre well situated on the riverbank, and 16 boreholes fitted with 2-inch submersible pumps.
The existing water infrastructure can deliver approximately 100,000 litres per hour, with the capacity to irrigate approximately 20 hectares simultaneously.
Additional water and irrigation infrastructure includes:
Approximately 40 hectares of established irrigation lands, divided into five 8-hectare blocks.
A 160 mm PVC mainline system supplying dripper irrigation.
A 3.5-hectare centre pivot.
A cement storage dam.
A fertilizer tank for fertigation.
Approximately 20 hectares of additional arable land offering further production potential.
The established infrastructure provides a valuable foundation for intensive commercial farming, with flexibility to expand or adapt production according to market demand.
PROVEN TOMATO PRODUCTION & FAVOURABLE CLIMATE
The farm enjoys a favourable growing climate with very little frost and, in some years, virtually no frost. These conditions support an extended growing season and allow tomato production to commence as early as 1 August.
The property can accommodate approximately 16 hectares of tomatoes in production at any one time, making it well suited to commercial-scale vegetable farming.
The irrigation system also allows for the cultivation of other crops, including butternut, offering the opportunity to diversify production and respond to changing market conditions.
LIVESTOCK & GRAZING POTENTIAL
Beyond intensive crop production, the farm offers additional agricultural value through established sweet grass suitable for cattle grazing. This creates the opportunity to combine irrigated crop production with livestock farming.
