This magnificent, secluded lodge is perfectly located on the slopes of the majestic Swartberg Mountains between Oudtshoorn and Calitzdorp. It is found on the exceptionally well managed Swartberg Private Wildlife Estate. The Lodge is a 5 hour drive from Cape Town via the R62 and only an hour and a half from the George Airport. Oudtshoorn and Calitzdorp are 57km and 37km away respectively.

The estate is located off the ever popular R62 and makes it an ideal location from which to explore the area with its diverse offering such as the Cango Caves, ostrich farms, Prince Albert's coffee shops and restaurants, the wonderful wine farms of Calitzdorp as well as hiking and mountain biking trails found in the area and so much more. The estate, which borders the Swartberg Nature Reserve, a world heritage site, also offers numerous hiking and mountain biking trails which can be enjoyed while viewing the free roaming game.

The entire estate is run by a landowners’ association (LOA) while each portion is individually owned. Commercial activity on the estate is restricted to this portion on which the lodge is situated and the owner is authorised to run a guesthouse on the premises.

Each portion's owner subscribes to the rules of the LOA and contributes to the running of the estate by paying a monthly levy. The running of the estate include managing the health of the game, removing alien vegetation such as black wattle, maintaining the roads and the perimeter electric fencing. The wide variety of game on the estate is owned separately by the “Animal Rights Owner”. This means that the lodge owner can simply enjoy the benefits of the extra-ordinary fauna and flora of the estate without having the responsibility of managing and caring for the it all. These is taken care of by the Land owners association on your behalf.

The lodge may operate a maximum of 10 bedrooms and there is an option to construct management accommodation with 5 lockup garages, subject to reasonable LOA approval.

Currently the lodge operates as an exclusive use “holiday rental” facility.

From the swimming pool one can enjoy admiring the the magnificent Swartberg Mountain range. Close by is an outside dining area with fantastic braai facilities. In the stone lapa, overlooking the dam, one can enjoy the glowing fire and the sound of laughter and chatter under the clear night sky.

The estate is home to over 800 animals that roam freely. These include Wildebeest, Springbok, Cape Mountain Zebra, Giraffe, Eland, Impala, Gemsbok, Lechwe. Njala and many, many more.

It is also a bird-lovers paradise with the opportunity to see the African Fish Eagle prey on the fish in the dams or to hear their cry in the distance.

Game drives culminating in picnics or sundowners at one of the many dams is also a way of life. The dams are all safe for swimming, and there are bass for those who love to fish. Hunting is also available on the adjacent farm.
