New luxury villas on offer for South African buyers

South African buyers have the opportunity to acquire luxury African safari-style villas at the unique new Safari Lodge development set to be built on the northern side of Mauritius, near the trendy Grand Baie area, says Seeff Mauritius licensee, Theo Pietersen.

The development is set in an exceptional natural setting with stunning views of the Northern Islands and Port Louis Mountain range.

Located in an area called Mare Seche, Safari Lodge is a Real Estate Scheme (RES) development and one of the only safari-type developments on the island. It provides the opportunity to own a safari-styled home, beautifully furnished in an Afro-chic style, yet on a beautiful island paradise. Grand Baie, a well-known tourist and shopping area is about 5 minutes away and the capital of the island, Port Louis with its modern infrastructure and trendy waterfront shopping and leisure development is about a 25-minute drive from the development.

The 2,579ha development includes tropically landscaped gardens and a fitness centre and spa for residents. On offer is a selection of 18 spacious single and double storey villas, each with a private swimming pool, parking for two vehicles and stunning views. The homes are sold fully furnished and range in size from 350sqm to 450sqm and come with a choice of three or four bedrooms. The plots are 900sqm each. Prices start at R7,43 million (USD824,000), says Pietersen.

The Afro-chic design of the villas incorporates the use of stone and wood, contemporary finishes, balconies and terraces. Most of the homes will also have rooftop gardens. Private gardens will also be beautifully landscaped and the area around the swimming pool is decked. Each also has a freestanding pergola located next to the pool for outdoor entertainment.

The open-plan living areas include a lounge and dining room that open to terraces. There is also a modern, fully fitted kitchen. The bedrooms all have luxurious en-suite bathrooms and open to terraces. The main suite comes with a dressing room and beautiful en-suite bathroom with double vanity facilities and a free-standing bath. The homes are tastefully furnished in an Afro-chic theme including outdoor furniture.

The top quality finishes include the latest in sanitary ware and stone- and wood cladding on feature walls and areas. The homes are air-conditioned throughout.

Under the Real Estate Scheme (RES), foreign buyers are able to buy property on the island under full ownership with the freedom to resell with unrestricted repatriation of the proceeds. Under this scheme, South Africans also qualify for permanent residency as long as they are the owners of the property, says Pietersen.
