Great holiday rentals available at Royal Alfred Marina

The Eastern Cape suburb of Port Alfred, situated located halfway between Port Elizabeth and East London, boasts fabulous beaches, world-class golf courses as well as a small boat harbour. Surfing, scuba diving and fishing are just some of the popular leisure activities this quaint town offers its residents and visitors.

As one of the most popular holiday destinations along Route 72, Port Alfred is known to be a water sports heaven with holidaymakers also attracted to the area because its sandy beaches, great surf, temperate climate and of course the relaxed atmosphere.

The Royal Alfred Marina, which is set alongside the Kowie River, is the premier residential estate in the area. Warwick Heny, Broker/Owner of RE/MAX Kowie, which handles property sales, holiday and long term rentals on the Royal Alfred Marina, says that the estate is set on 45-hectares within the Kowie River Estuary and boasts a clubhouse, two swimming pools, a floodlit tennis court and a squash court for use by residents. Security measures include electric fences around the estate along with 24-hour patrols by security guards.

Heny says that with its Blue Flag Status and great waterfront lifestyle offering, the marina development is a sought-after location for both buyers and those looking to rent a holiday home.
Those looking for an idyllic holiday home in this stretch of woods need look no further. Holiday homes within the Royal Alfred Marina are available to rent from R1 500 - R2 500 per day out of season, and from R3 000 – R5 500 per day in peak season over December/ January.

Heny says that due to the fact that demand is generally fairly quiet before and after the peak festive season in December/January, RE/MAX Kowie usually has a variety of quality homes within the Royal Alfred Marina available at rates suitable for most pockets.  “An average marina home of three or four bedrooms would be available at approximately R1 500 per day, with a minimum of a two day booking in quieter times. Over Easter, expect to pay R2 000 per day with a minimum of four nights to be booked. In peak December season, bookings of fewer than 10 days are generally not allowed,” he says.

The more expensive homes are those set on double size plots with their own pools and those with extensive and high quality entertainment areas, premium positions or those offering accommodation for up to 12 people.

Adrian Goslett, CEO of RE/MAX of Southern Africa, says that those wanting to rent a holiday home will generally look for properties located in holiday destination hotspots that are situated close to amenities and leisure activities.

RE/MAX Kowie currently has this rental property on its books for R3 300 per day (peak season rate). The home offers four bedrooms, three bathrooms, a double garage, extra parking as well as a large open-plan living area with a granite kitchen, centre island and scullery. There is also an undercover patio and further wind protected side patio with built-in braai, neat lawn and garden leading to a private jetty. There is also a child safety fence for peace of mind. The home is well equipped with PVR DSTV in the lounge and main bedroom, quality cutlery/ crockery, leather lounge suite and two outdoor patio sets, and more. Guests can stroll to the Marina’s clubhouse and pool.
