Building underway at the “The Odyssey”
Construction has commenced on “The Odyssey”, a trendy new apartment building on Green Point’s Main Road, situated directly opposite the Green Point Urban Park.
The project is the latest by the renowned Berman Brothers, whose previous developments in the same area include The Legacy, situated just a few blocks away. Pam Golding Properties has the exclusive mandate to market the 59 apartments in The Odyssey, with prices ranging from R995 000 to R5.775 million, inclusive of VAT.
Designed by MLB Architecture, the building will feature a modern, sophisticated design with state-of-the-art finishes. The 59 apartments will range in size from 40sqm to 396sqm, with layout options including studios, one-bedroom and two-bedroom units, as well as a single three-bedroom apartment. Five of the apartments will be garden units and three of them penthouses - two of which will have their own private rooftop decks. Also located on the rooftop will be a communal swimming pool with entertainment terrace. The building will enjoy excellent security with a 24-hour concierge.
Parking is included in the purchase price, with each unit having a minimum of one parking bay allocated in the two levels of basement parking. Visitors’ parking will be allocated at ground level. Buyers will have the option to purchase storage rooms at an additional cost of R50 000.
PGP’s area manager for the Atlantic Seaboard and City Bowl, Basil Moraitis, says he expects the building to be extremely popular with young professionals. “The site is conveniently close to the city’s media and advertising quarter, as well as businesses in the Central City,” he says. “It is an ideal location for those who want to live and play, close to their place of work. They can come home from the office, go for a jog in the Green Point Urban Park, work out at the Virgin Active, the Green Point tennis club or the outdoor gyms on the Promenade, and then enjoy cocktails and dinner at any one of the numerous restaurants, cafes and bars which pepper the area. We have witnessed the success of a similar product at The Legacy, which is already sold out, just weeks after its launch to market. Buyers there also included several international clients, who like the security of an easy to maintain, lock-up-and-go pad in the heart of the city, close to the V&A Waterfront and the Atlantic Seaboard beaches. This trendy lifestyle is ideal for young upwardly mobile buyers who want the modern finishes of a brand new building and the convenience of a location that is within walking distance of most amenities.”
Occupation is anticipated by September 2013.
