Boutique wine farm for sale in prime position of Franschhoek Valley

A portion of the acclaimed Dieu Donné wine farm has come onto the market in the Franschhoek Valley, exclusively through Pam Golding Properties.

The property includes a three-bedroomed Cape Dutch-style home built in 1988, with sweeping views across the Franschhoek Valley and its surrounding mountains.

The 18.4ha farm currently operates as a boutique wine farm with its own vineyards, but has no winemaking facilities on site – instead, the grapes are sent to the main Dieu Donné winery for processing into some of the valley’s most acclaimed vintages. The property includes a three-bedroomed Cape Dutch-style home built in 1988, with sweeping views across the Franschhoek Valley and its surrounding mountains. It is on the market at R35 million.

PGP agents Jeanine Allen, Doug Gurr and Shelly Schoeman say the farm would be an ideal lifestyle purchase for someone who appreciates fine wine and loves the scenic vineyard setting, but doesn’t want the hard work of running a large wine farm. “This is a prime location in the valley, set on the eastern slopes of the Franschhoek mountains with sweeping vistas across the village,” they say. “And the property is associated with one of Franschhoek’s most acclaimed wine-making operations. It would make a unique home for someone who loves the relaxed country lifestyle and enjoys the finer things in life, including access to the village’s gourmet restaurants and quaint antique shops and art galleries.”

Currently the boutique farm has approximately 3.3ha planted to Chardonnay, 2.4ha to Sauvignon Blanc, and 4.9ha to Merlot, while a further 0.25ha is home to a buchu crop. The farm practices dry-land farming, an agricultural technique that shuns irrigation in favour of capturing natural water resources including rainwater. “The buyer has the option to negotiate a continuation of the current management set-up,” say the agents, “if they so wish. There is also ample space to build an additional homestead if they require space for a larger family or regular visitors. Besides the homestead, additional buildings on the property include a separate entertainment room and a large shed.”
