Bargains in estate where Bali meets bushveld
Several repossessed stands in the upmarket Savannah Country Estate in Pretoria East have been released by banks and represent excellent buying opportunities.
Fransiska Schutte, owner of the RealNet Wilgers franchise, says stands average 850sqm and are now available from prices as low as R250 000. "This represents excellent value in one of Pretoria's prime real estate locations," she says.
"Savannah, close to the well-known Silver Lakes Golf Estate on the Bronkhorstspruit road, is divided into several smaller 'villages' in the Bali architectural style, and with the distinct bushveld setting of the estate, the developers have created a unique and relaxed lifestyle option for discerning buyers," she says.
The estate is a popular choice among professionals, with a strong representation of medical doctors, lawyers, architects, top businessmen and diplomats because of the quick access to highways leading to Pretoria, Johannesburg and Witbank. It is also close to the Wilgers hospital and top schools and within easy reach of several shopping centres such as Menlyn Mall and The Grove.
Security enjoys a high priority. Access is controlled and vehicle inspections are conducted when necessary. The estate is enclosed with an electric fence with a trigger alarm connected to a control centre that is manned around the clock. Highly-trained guards patrol the estate and an armed reaction unit is on duty 24 hours per day. A risk assessment by a professional security company is undertaken annually to address all security concerns.
Future developments at Savannah will include a clubhouse, children's play park, swimming pools, and tennis and squash courts.
Prices of full-title homes, ranging from 250sqm to 350sqm and offering between three and six bedrooms, start at around R1,2m, with larger properties realising prices of up to R3,6m.
