RE/MAX to celebrate 40 years of real estate success
Recognised as one of the leading real estate franchise companies with the most productive sales force in the industry, RE/MAX will be celebrating its 40th anniversary next year.
Founded in 1973 by Dave and Gail Liniger who still lead the Denver-based global franchisor today, RE/MAX started out as a single office in Denver, Colorado, and has grown into a global real estate network of franchisee-owned and -operated offices and their more than 90 000 affiliated independent sales professionals and a global reach of more than 85 countries.
RE/MAX of Southern Africa is regarded as the pioneer of the RE/MAX international expansion as it was the first country franchise to be sold outside of North America. RE/MAX of Southern Africa still remains one of the top three performing regions in the world.
Adrian Goslett, CEO of RE/MAX of Southern Africa, says that in 2012 more than 25 new franchises have opened in the Southern African region - which includes South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Angola, Lesotho, Swaziland Mauritius and the Seychelles. “The brand is continuing to grow its footprint that encompasses over 160 office locations,” he says
Goslett says that RE/MAX is the number one real estate company worldwide and in Southern Africa. He says this is because RE/MAX tops the charts in agent productivity, property sales, number of agents and agent experience.
“Locally RE/MAX agents account for approximately 6% of total agent numbers and for approximately 15% of all sales transactions. The average number of years of real estate experience within the RE/MAX of Southern Africa group is over 10 years, and our average agent commission earnings are up 31% in 2012, compared to the 2010 figures,” he says.
RE/MAX of Southern Africa network includes over 160 offices and 1700 agents and was ranked as the largest real estate brand in the country in a Finweek feature in 2011.
In celebration of the RE/MAX 40th anniversary, RE/MAX of Southern Africa will be taking more than 50 people to Las Vegas in February next year on a nine-day tour. As a part of the experience, delegates from RE/MAX of Southern Africa will tour the RE/MAX offices in Vegas to learn best practices, and undertake training among other things. South African delegates will also attend the international 40th anniversary celebration at the MGM Grand Hotel and Resort in Las Vegas along with an anticipated 10 000 other RE/MAX Affiliates from around the world. The five day conference will include various educational sessions, professional training courses as well as an awards ceremony and will end with a grand finale in the “Party with a Purpose” celebration function.
