Dining room becomes library

In the first installment of this new feature on MyProperty, we take a look at how one couple renovated their formal dining room into a stunning library. If you would like to take part in this and share your home renovations please feel free to contact us. Your renovation could be the next one featured on the site!

On to the first renovation!

The home owners are not the formal dining type and when they decided to turn the space into a library they spent two months planning the new space with a designer friend of theirs. Most people consider hiring interior designers or decorators as an unnecessary expense. However, if you make use of an expert it will help the whole process go more smoothly and your ideas will brought to life in a much bigger and better way.

Once the designing phase was behind them, they set to work and it took them a month to renovate the space. The first thing that went was the carpeting after which they installed the wooden floors. Then the painting started and because they had spent so long planning the project they wasted no time in front of the paint samples. They installed the shelving which was custom made for their needs. From there the only thing left to be done was adding the wallpaper into the ceiling inset and add the finishing touches like the drapes, furniture and their extensive book collection.

It just goes to show that with a little imagination and a splash of paint you can transform a room you never use into a space that you fall in love with every time you use it.
