Community-focused Mitchell's Plain Development is Launched

Developers of The Westridge say there are many young professionals from the Mitchell's Plain area who are eager to enter the property market, but are struggling to find homes in Mitchell's Plain which meet their requirements.

Binky Raubenheimer of Douglas Parker Associates - a Cape-based research and business development consultancy - says that the results of recent market research surveys reveal that first time home buyers from the area are seeking homes within a reasonable price bracket, but are not willing to compromise on quality and style.

"As a result, first time buyers from Mitchell's Plain are increasingly opting to purchase in the newer Cape suburbs like Parklands and the Northern Suburbs, disrupting the close family and community networks for which Mitchell's Plain is renowned," says Raubenheimer.

Offering unique design elements and high quality finishes, The Westridge is designed by well-known architect Gerd Weideman, who is responsible for the most exclusive and upmarket homes and residential developments in Camps Bay, Clifton and Bantry Bay.

The development has been designed so that each unit is built upon large erven of up to 280 m², allowing young families to renovate and expand as they grow. Including open public spaces and parks, The Westridge is also located within walking distance of various local schools, bus, taxi and train stations and is close to the M7.

In order to further encourage a sense of community in The Westridge, developers have chosen to limit the number of investor-purchases and are striving for a high percentage of owner-occupied homes. This will curb the 'turn-over' of residents that often results from a high proportion rental properties.

Plans for The Westridge also include a commercial element - a shopping centre that will offer the residents of The Westridge and the surrounding area convenient shopping, lifestyle and recreational facilities.

The Westridge will comprise over 300 two and three bedroom homes, starting at R385 000. Phases 1, 2 and 3 of The Westridge have already sold out, with construction on all three phases having already begun. Sales on Phase 4 will be launching soon.
