Chas Everitt to open in Rustenburg

Leading property group Chas Everitt International is to open an office in
Rustenburg, which is one of the fastest-growing towns in SA.

The new franchise will be headed by local businessman Bernhardt van Wyk, who
has made a name in residential developments - and is currently building a
commercial centre that will also house a Chas Café property show centre

Van Wyk, who cut his business teeth in the fast food franchising sector,
struck out on his own in 1995 and took on his first residential property
developments. He has since grown his property development venture
considerably - while also increasing the number of outlets in his food
business to four.

"I have had a keen interest in property for a number of years and wrote the
Board exam in 1999 to qualify as an estate agent. I have been waiting for
the right moment to open my own agency - and recognised the opportunity when
the Chas Everitt International franchise in Rustenburg became available."

Van Wyk says the Rustenburg property market is characterised by a rather
conservative and family-oriented community who will feel comfortable with
the Chas Everitt International way of doing business. "The brand is
synonymous with business ethics and places strong emphasis on family
values," he says.

He is also confident about the prospects for the local property market. "The
city is expanding in all directions thanks to the new platinum mines. Miners
from the closed gold mines on the highveld are streaming to Rustenburg in
search of jobs - and housing.

"We will, however, serve all sectors of the property market and will
initially concentrate on building market share. We envisage fielding about
15 agents who will be trained to deliver the highest level of service -
another Chas Everitt trade mark."

House prices in Rustenburg now average about R900 000 and high demand has
seen an overflow of buyers to neighbouring Swartruggens and Koster, where
prices have also grown rapidly, but most homes still fall in the R350 000 to
R500 000 price category.

Things you should consider before upgrading to a new home
23 Apr 2018
The thing about the property ladder is that at some point in our lives we all have reason to want to climb a rung or two higher. Sometimes, it’s because we’ve outgrown our previous dream home, or because we want to be in a better neighbourhood that’s closer to work or to schools. Sometimes it’s because our circumstances have changed, and we’re taking care of elderly parents or relatives. Sometimes, it’s just because we want a property that reflects the financial status our hard work has won.
