The Chas Everitt International property group is expanding its footprint in Pretoria with the conversion to its brand of the long-established TiMProps agency.
This will become the Chas Everitt Pretoria East franchise and is jointly owned by property stalwart Christo Steyn and the shareholders of the law firm Tim du Toit & Co Inc. It's offices are located in Lynnwood, in the heart of Pretoria's upmarket "old East", which also includes suburbs such as Waterkloof, Groenkloof, Menlo Park and Brooklyn.
However, says Steyn, it will also serve homebuyers and sellers in the burgeoning suburbs of the "new East", including Faerie Glen, Equestria and Moreleta Park, and will co-operate with the Chas Everitt Moot and Centurion franchises to market several developments it already has on its books but are located in their areas.
Established in 1997, TiMProps initially focused on sales in its own developments, but became a fully-fledged estate agency in 2004, when Steyn took over the running of the company after a 22-year career in mortgage and business banking at Absa. Co-director Jan Swart joined the group in the same year and as qualified accountant supports the team and clients in a management capacity.
And now, says Steyn, the agency is in need of the extensive marketing and networking resources that will be provided by the national Chas Everitt group. "Especially in the current difficult market, we felt it was essential to equip our agents as fully as possible to make them effective, and as an independent agency we had a shortfall in systems and resources that will be more than overcome as we come under the Chas Everitt banner.
"It is also a matter of trust for our clients. Consumers would naturally rather deal with a company operating under a big brand name they are familiar with than with a smaller, less well known organization."
Steyn also says the TiMProps and Chas Everitt "fit" is a good one in terms of culture and values, and Barry Davies, CEO of Chas Everitt Franchising, says: "Pretoria East has always been a key market for the group and we have been looking for the right partners for a long time.
