The Chas Everitt International property group has nearly doubled its footprint on the Far East Rand since establishing the brand in the area less than two years ago.
Patsy Pretorius, CEO of the group of Chas Everitt International offices on the Far East Rand, says the number of agents at its Benoni, Brakpan, Springs, Nigel and Heidelberg branches has increased by 40% in the past six months.
"We opened the first four offices in May 2006, and added the Heidelberg office last year. The brand, which was relatively unknown in the area, has since made a big impact and the growth in our client base has forced us to increase agent numbers."
She says there has been a sharp rise in the number of enquiries from property buyers and that turnover has risen over the past six months "roughly on par with our beefed up sales team.
"Our success has also led to growing numbers of established agents in the area approaching us to join the brand. We see this as a sign that we are becoming entrenched as a leading brand in the area."
Pretorius adds that the property market on the Far East Rand is still buoyant in spite of tougher market conditions. "The middle segment of the market is lively, even if demand for properties at the higher and lower end has flattened somewhat.
"And demand in January was up considerably compared to the end of last year. We see this as typical of a mature market where consumers use the December holiday period to take stock of their residential needs and plan their budgets for the coming year.
"We note activity among residents who are now either scaling down to smaller properties or scaling up to larger properties in the same area," she says.
