New activity in the mining and power generation sectors has stimulated the property market in Bronkhorstspruit, and affordable homes in the area have been selling like hotcakes.
At the same time, the town’s proximity to Pretoria and Johannesburg - while retaining its country appeal - has piqued the interest of developers in the luxury residential sector, says Susan Muller, who recently opened a Chas Everitt International office in the town.
“The market is extremely lively. We opened our office just before the official launch of the Misty Hills development where all 1056 units were sold out within a week – even before they were properly marketed.
“The developers initially planned to launch in phases, but demand was so great that it was decided to offer all units simultaneously.” Prices for the three-bedroom, two-bathroom units ranged between R479 000 and R539 000.
Now the fledgling office has been selected as an accredited marketing agency by the Misty Hills developer on the strength of its performance during that sales rush, notes Muller, who also owns the Chas Everitt International franchises in Middelburg and Witbank.
Meanwhile another Bronkhorstspruit development eliciting much excitement is Reverie Estate, which will become the official home of the South African Lipizzaners, the only performing horses of this breed outside Vienna. The development will include an indoor arena of international standard, a world-class polo venue, horse trails, a 30-room lodge and conference facilities.
A total of 133 building packages for exclusive full-title residences with private gardens on 5000sqm stands will be offered at prices from R2, 5m. The development will be enclosed by a 2,1m high perimeter wall and security will be beefed up by controlled access and motion-sensor cameras.
Reverie will also feature a private airstrip and 40 hangars for private aircraft. The estate itself and its aviation partner will own and manage five aircraft that will be available to residents.

The development is situated near the N4 highway, with the OR Tambo airport less than 60km away and within 20 minutes’ drive from the Menlyn shopping centre in Pretoria East.
