Aida says goodbye to Verna

After more than 30 years as an Aida agent and agency principal, industry stalwart Verna Herbst is leaving the group to open an independent estate agency.
Having sold the Aida Roodepoort North Executive franchise and mentored new owners Tarryn-Anne Williams and Charl Els for a year, she has now established Verna Herbst & Associates, which will operate across the West Rand and in all residential sectors from townhouses to country estates.
Herbst joined the Aida group in her forties when she decided to start a new career. “It was meant to last about five years so that I could contribute to my children’s education. Little did I know then that property would become a passion and that I would spend the best part of my life in the industry,” she says.
She especially recalls working alongside the late Aida Geffen, whom she admired both as a visionary and pioneer in the field of SA residential real estate. “It was an honour to have a very special relationship with Aida, who was the embodiment of achieving great success against all odds. She had the most amazing ability to prove that you can achieve your objectives no matter what.”
Aida CEO Young Carr says Herbst is to be admired for the dedication, commitment and resolve that have become her hallmarks. “We also admire Verna’s many achievements in her long and illustrious career and all at Aida thank her for her many contributions to the group.
“It was an honour working with her and learning from her, and we wish her great success in her new venture.”

The thing about the property ladder is that at some point in our lives we all have reason to want to climb a rung or two higher. Sometimes it’s because our circumstances have changed, and we’re taking care of elderly parents or relatives.
