Professional profile: Clive Parkes Clive Parkes brings a unique combination of finance, architecture, property and project management experience to the commercial property market. His career began in finance before moving into motor racing at Kyalami, after which he followed his passion for property and studied architecture, with a focus on residential, large commercial developments and hotels. His architectural career developed his strong ability to work with people, manage complex projects and deliver within demanding deadlines. Clive has always believed that successful property is about listening to the client and understanding what they need, rather than simply creating a monument to the architect. Since 1984, his focus has increasingly been on the commercial property sector, including retail and the project management of sectional title developments in Tamboerskloof. Over the years, Clive has been involved in the sale of properties in Clifton to high-profile clients, sourcing potential Shoprite sites in Ghana, and identifying locations for African embassies. Today, his particular strength lies in commercial property and the complete property development cycle – identifying the right site, understanding its potential, assisting with the development process and ultimately securing the right key tenants. With Clive, the journey comes full circle – from understanding how a building should work, to understanding where it should be built and how it should perform commercially.
