More about Debbie

For the past 12 year I have been employed as a Property Manager to oversee a property portfolio in South Africa of R100 Million.  The South African portfolio comprises of high-end residential properties.  My function is to oversee, and project manage all repairs and renovations by consulting and negotiating with contractors, architects and interior designer with regards to the briefs for the various project and to compile budgets accordingly.

Thereafter I would rent out the properties and make sure that the tenants received their billings in a timeous manner.  Regular inspections were done during the tenant stay to make sure that they maintain the property in the manner that they received it. If there were any legal matters that arose due to tenants not paying. damage to property or evictions required, I would liaise with the lawyers to find the best course of action and then implement it.

During this time, I have attended Property Development Program.  This course was designed to provide an opportunity for public and private sector practitioners and employees to learn the fundamentals in property development. It deals with the development process regarding residential, commercial and industrial property.  It helped me to obtain a better understanding of the profitable property development industry.

Thereafter I completed a Facility Management Progamme.  The course helped understand facilities management and the application thereof in practice. The course highlighted asset management, property management, facilities management, maintenance management and equipped me with a knowledge base to structure and execute a facilities management strategy.

From time to time I would assist with international properties which are located in Kenya, Tanzania, Dubai and Spain.  In Tanzania I was privileged to assist with the interior design and layout of the 45-bedroom hotel as well assisting with the completion of the hotel from a construction point of view.
