Blair Atholl Estate - Five-star facilities

Surrounded by the riverine flora at the foot of the beautiful Magaliesberg Mountain range is Blair Atholl, a residential estate that can only be described as exclusive elegance.

According to Sipman the estate is located on 600ha land, approximately half of which once belonged to world-renowned golfer Gary Player. With only 329 stands on the estate, with one home to every two hectares of land, Blair Atholl offers some of the lowest density housing in South Africa. The stands on the estate range from 2 600m2 to approximately 4000m2, with vacant stands priced from R1.8 million to R4 million depending on the position, be it on the golf course, with river frontage or with a view. Complete homes in Blair Atholl start at around R6 million and go all the way to R60 million.



She notes that the estate offers its residents the best facilities. “The estate encompasses the award-winning Blair Atholl Golf Course, rated the fourth Best Golf Course in South Africa 2014 by Golf Digest. Designed by Gary Player, it is the longest golf course in the country.  The estate also boasts an excellent restaurant and bar at the clubhouse along with a wellness centre. According to Sipman there are world-class equestrian facilities available on the estate with Blair Atholl’s equestrian heritage dating back to the 1960’s. As stable manager, Brendan McNevin has set his sights on taking the experience of stabling horses to a new level, developing young talent and reaching new heights.

Along with the bridle paths, walking and cycling trails have been meticulously placed throughout the estate. Conservationists constantly maintain the grounds to ensure that the ecologically sensitive areas are untouched and the wetland areas are completely restored.

Sipman says that the wellness centre, which is known as the Savannah Spa, offers treatment rooms, a sun bed, steam room, squash courts, lap pool and a fully equipped gym.

Security on the estate is paramount and includes 24-hour ground and vehicle security teams, CCTV and state-of-the-art biometric entry points.  “Blair Atholl is extremely secure and you will not find high walls around the properties within the estate. The residents enjoy the freedom of not being cooped up and are not limited by the borders of their property, as there is a seamless flow into the countryside. It is very private, giving residents the feeling that they are the only people living on the estate,” says Sipman.
 
Adrian Goslett, CEO of RE/MAX of Southern African, says that many property buyers within South Africa are naming security as the number one determining factor when choosing a home to buy. This has led to security estates becoming a highly sought after choice among today’s homebuyers.
