RE/MAX brings compliance expertise in-house

In an effort to lead transformation compliance within the real estate sector, RE/MAX of Southern Africa has brought their approved compliance service provider, Margaret Nicol, on board.

The main focus for RE/MAX of Southern Africa is on growing its market share while at the same time transforming the industry.
 
“It is a priority for the RE/MAX of Southern Africa brand to grow its agent base over the next four years. We currently have over 2000 agents working throughout the Southern Africa region and we have plans to increase that number to 3000 agents by 2018. It is extremely important to us that this increase in agents is in line with the Property Sector Transformation Charter standards that have been set and provides opportunity to individuals who were previously disadvantaged,” says Adrian Goslett, CEO of RE/MAX of Southern Africa.
 
To ensure that both compliance and BEE criteria are met, while providing a unique in-house training system within the RE/MAX Global Learning Centre, the decision was made to employ a Global Learning Centre Development Manager. Margaret Nicol, who now holds the position at the RE/MAX of Southern Africa head office, was the Founder and Director of Margaret Nicol & Associates (Pty) Ltd, a private Further Education and Training Institution, registered with the Department of Education and the approved RE/MAX SA service provider for the compulsory qualifications.
 
“Margaret’s expertise within the education sector made her the ideal candidate to take the RE/MAX brand’s transformation and training vision forward,” says Goslett. “Her education background includes a B.Ed (Hons) and Post Grad in Management (distinction). She specialises in occupational education and training of adults, and has achieved national recognition for her Recognition of Prior Learning work in the Property Sector.”
 
Margaret was also listed in the Top 300 Women in Government and Business a number of times and her company was in the top three nationally for being a Gender Empowered Company. Since selling her business of ten years in 2013, Margaret has run a Public Benefit Organisation, the M-Powerment Trust, to raise funds for transformation through education.  During that time, Margaret was consulting with RE/MAX of Southern Africa on skills development, creating educational intellectual property.
 
“My fundamental role will be to create an accredited entity to formally educate and train new RE/MAX agents internally. The programme will be offered to agents at the lowest possible rate and will be designed to be the simplest, easiest and fastest way to become a certified Professional Practitioner in Real Estate that is fully EAAB compliant. The system will comprehensively incorporate the key elements for those entering the real estate sector, such as the Services Seta FETC: Real Estate, NQFL4 accreditation and EAAB mandatory one year internship, along with the RE/MAX Accelerate course and Buffini’s 100 Days to Greatness. This will ensure that agents will be fully equipped to service buyers and sellers in the housing market and provide a professional service from day one,” says Nicol.
 
“While growth is an objective of the brand, it is essential that the agents who are added to the ranks are highly trained and able to professionally guide buyers and sellers through the often complicated process of a property transaction.  A dedicated education expert will ensure that the high standard of service synonymous with RE/MAX continues as we expand our reach,” Goslett concludes.
