Homeowners: create floor plans easily

There are many benefits of having a floor plan of your home but drawing one is time consuming and often homeowners don’t have the necessary tools to create a precise floor plan. However these two apps will change all that.

Two apps developed for the iPhone and iPad helps you to capture a room from which a floor plan is created.

Roomscan for iOS

This easily used application creates floor plans by simply placing your iPad or iPhone against a wall. Users would place their device against a start wall, after a few seconds the app would have scanned the wall and you can move on the next wall.

This process is repeated until you have come around to the second wall a second time.

From the scans the app creates the floor plan, complete with measurements and the square meters of the room.

MagicPlan

Unlike RoomScan, this app works by capturing images of the room. A user would stand in the middle of the room and point their device at each corner of the room. Once the entire room has been captured MagicPlan generates a floor plan from the data collected.

Floor plans that a user generated can be saved in either PDF, JPG or DXF formats and can easily be shared.

Both of these apps will help homeowners, builders or interior designers quickly generate floor plans without having to outsource the task. Real estate agents will also benefit from a floor plan as many buyers are interested in the flow of a house when in the market for a new property.
