Top schools and convenient location drive demand in “Die Boord”

The popular Stellenbosch suburb of Die Boord continues to attract strong demand from family buyers, thanks to its central location and proximity to some of the town’s leading schools.

Despite its tranquil setting, Die Boord is flanked by several arterial roads including Adam Tas and the R44, which offer convenient access to the centre of Stellenbosch or to Cape Town and its international airport. Also located in the suburb is the Stellenbosch Medi-Clinic, as well as the Ipic Shopping Centre, which offers a Superspar, take-away outlets, a pharmacy with day clinic and beauty spa, as well as banks, a vet and a post office. “There is everything one could need for day to day living, almost within walking distance,” says PGP agent for the area, Lizaan Fourie.

Die Boord is dominated by freehold homes, with only a handful of sectional title properties on offer. Prices range from R1 million to R3.4 million for the sectional title homes, and from R2 million to R5 million for freehold properties, depending on the size of the erf and condition of the property. Many owners have enjoyed significant growth in their capital value, says Varga – for instance, a home purchased for R2.95 million in 2008 was sold for R3.995 million in 2013 – an average annual growth of 14.64 percent.
