Location and luxury lifestyle appeal for Benguela Cove Estate

The 220ha estate enjoys one of the most scenic locations and lies on the banks of the Bot River Lagoon with stunning views over the lagoon, out to sea and across to the Palmiet Mountains that essentially form the spine of the Kogelberg Biosphere.

It is the lowest density residential estate in the country with only 124 freehold stands set amidst natural fynbos surroundings and vast vineyards and olive groves. Residents enjoy direct lagoon and beach access and the sought-after lifestyle of living on a working wine and olive estate, says the agent.

The estate produces top quality wines, most notably its Sauvignon Blanc that was awarded a Veritas Silver Award at the Michelangelo International Wine Awards for its maiden vintage. It was also selected to be served in the first class lounges of Swiss Airlines. As an added benefit, property owners also get an annual wine allocation.
The estate includes a Renosterveld Nature Reserve that is home to various buck and it is also a haven for bird lovers with about 180 bird species found here. Additional lifestyle features include a clubhouse and a water jetty. Aside from boating, activities on offer include fishing and water skiing. Walking, hiking and cycling within the estate and in the surrounding area further add leisure appeal while golfers have access to the Arabella Golf Course located opposite the estate. It is also situated in the heart of the Overberg wine route with wine tasting and excellent restaurants along with many places of interest and activities nearby.
The estate was developed just over five years ago and is one of the most secure with strict access control, something that further enhances the appeal of the estate, says Woolnough. There are also architectural guidelines that aim to retain the integrity and quality of the estate. About half of all the available plots have already been sold and twenty homes have been built, some as second homes and the balance as primary residences. Buyers comprise a mix of locals from the Cape Town area, upcountry holiday home buyers and investors as well as foreign buyers, she says.
There are 16 vacant plots are up for grabs with prices varying depending on the location; being on the water front or opting for vineyard views for example. Every plot, irrespective of its position is guaranteed to have panoramic views of the lagoon, mountains and stunning surroundings. Prices start at R1,5 million for 1,749sqm and range up to R3,5 million for 4,008sqm.
Buyers looking for a complete home also have a choice of three luxury villas that are currently on offer, priced upwards of R7,5 million to around R9,75 million for a 400sqm architectural home that is set on a 2,058sqm water front plot that also enjoys direct beach access. The home comes with luxurious living spaces and four bedroom suites; all with massive glass windows that allow for stunning views, says Woolnough. There is also a swimming pool and double garage.
The estate really is quite unique and offers a secure, discerning and quality lifestyle with property values set to grow significantly over the next few years, concludes the agent.
