The University of Pretoria, more commonly known as Tuks, has become one of the leading universities not only in South Africa but also the world.

It thus comes as no surprise that each year thousands of students flock to the university to obtain a degree, this influx of students also means that student housing in close proximity to the university has become very popular.

Suburbs around the university

The university is surrounded by several established suburbs including Brooklyn, Groenkloof, Hatfield and Nieuw Muckleneuk. Each of these suburbs offers varying accommodation; from communes to brand new apartments.

Brooklyn has an abundance of townhouses, apartments and houses for sale and to rent in close proximity to the university. The suburb is located 8 minutes away from the university, but it can easily be reached via public transport.

One of the closest suburbs to the university has to be Hatfield. The area has become the heartbeat of student life over the years as it is within walking distance of the university. It is also a node which has seen major development over the past few years due to the demand for student accommodation, these days you can expect to find a selection of brand new apartment complexes located along the main roads leading to the university.
