DIY - Orb Light

In our first do-it-yourself segment we show you how to create a beautifully designed orb light. It is very easy and won’t cost you an arm and leg, but the results are sensational.



What you will need:

1 Paper lantern
100 -125 standard cupcake liners (This will depend on the size of your paper lantern)
100 - 125 petit four liners (Depending on how much standard cupcake liners you used)
Glue gun
Electric cord for the light



Instructions:
  • Assemble the lantern and place the bottom on a bowl, this will allow you to easily stick the cupcake liners on the lantern



  • Add a dot of glue on the bottom of the standard cupcake liners and start placing the liners on the lantern from the top. There should be a gap of about 1.2cm between the first row of liners and the wire opening of the lantern. Ensure that the liners stay in place by pressing them down for a couple of seconds.



  • Continue this process until it you get close to the bottom. Turn the lantern around and gently place the top back onto the bowl. Start adding the cupcake liners to the bottom.



  • Once the entire lantern is covered with the cupcake liners, you can start adding the petit four liners. Add a little glue to the bottom of the petit four liners and place them inside the cupcake liners.



  • Once you have added all the petit four liners, you can mould your cupcake liners to create a certain shape. You don’t have to do this as the organic shapes they create is just as beautiful.
  • You can now drop the light in. And there you have the finished product!
