Sales of residential stands at the 212ha Kingswood Golf Estate in George are seeing an upturn, with buyers citing value for money and prime location as key factors in their purchase decision, reports Stephen Murray, manager of Pam Golding Properties George office, recently appointed marketers on site.
“Since we were appointed at the start of this year (2011), 18 stands have been sold to a broad spectrum of buyers both local and upcountry, purchasing for a variety of uses from permanent residence and leisure use to retirement purposes or pure investors. However there is a notable trend towards Gauteng buyers wishing to relocate here permanently, which is very positive and testament to the developers’ focus on providing a lifestyle estate with high appeal for families. With a total of 545 stands this development is rapidly becoming well established with 172 houses and townhouses completed, a further 18 under construction and another 36 plans approved,” he says.

Murray says the clean lines of the timeless Cape vernacular design style is proving very appealing to buyers, particularly against the very scenic backdrop of the Outeniqua mountain range. “The value for money on offer is borne out by the increase in sales. And with purchasers having three years to commence construction, the value of a completed home - after taking building costs into account, becomes evident when compared to asking prices of completed properties on the market within the area. Coupled with this is the fact that the buyer is able to choose a design to suit his/her own requirements, for a brand new home with new upmarket finishes .”

Full title residential stands range in size from 780-1 200sqm and are priced from R495 000 with prime located fairway stands priced at R825 000. In addition, Pam Golding Properties are marketing nine townhouse units in Kingswood Gardens priced from R1.65 million for two to three bedroom, two bathroom homes of approximately 180sqm. All prices include VAT.

Receiving several accolades at the International Property Awards in September 2010, including Best Golf Development in South Africa as well as in Africa, Kingswood Golf Estate is located within easy reach of the airport and all local amenities in George.

Included on the estate is Kingswood Golf Club, a 18 hole Sally Little signature golf course, driving range and practice facilities, cycle path, mini cricket oval, riverine jogging trail,  jungle gym and children’s play area, while future plans for the estate include a boutique hotel and piazza with a village restaurant.
