New Kwazulu-Natal airport to unlock investor value in the area.

Next month’s opening of the R8-billion King Shaka International Airport is a boost to Durban’s North Coast and will drive demand for property in the upmarket area, according to Adrian Goslett, regional director and CEO of RE/MAX Southern Africa.

“The new airport, which is 10 minutes from the Zimbali Coastal Resort’s doorstep, will contribute to an increased demand for property in the area, especially as the government has said they are focused on attracting more international airlines to the airport,” Goslett said.

RE/MAX Dolphin Realtors recently passed a stringent assessment process enabling one of its agents to sell property within the Zimbali Coastal Resort.

With 465 hectares of unspoilt land, golf courses, wildlife, hotels and magnificent homes, there are hundreds of reasons why Zimbali Coastal Resort is KwaZulu-Natal’s playground.

“Agents have to be selected by the Zimbali Estate Management Association, based on a lengthy assessment which looks at their track record, amongst other criteria,” said Goslett.

There are 1200 luxury homes and apartments on the property, ranging between the R7-million and R42-million price bracket, two hotels, and one golf course with another in development. Residents enjoy a tranquil lifestyle, taking long walks along the beaches, through the forest footpaths, horse riding and playing tennis.

“We are very excited about this opportunity, Zimbali is among the most prestigious developments in this upmarket area,” said John Pechey, Broker/Owner of RE/MAX Dolphin Realtors. “We have made a name for being able to successfully sell gated estates, such as Palm Lakes and Simbithi Estate. We single handedly sold out Dr Louis Luyt’s luxury apartment development Ballito Manor,” he said.

On the first day of being accredited, the franchise had a referral for a buyer for a home marketed at R15-million. “This is the power of referrals which comes from the RE/MAX network of offices around Southern Africa,” Goslett said.

The accreditation is expected to boost RE/MAX turnover by a few hundred million each year.

Consistently recognised as a leader in real estate since their launch in 1995, RE/MAX now has more than 1 500 agents in 160 independently owned and operated franchises across Southern Africa.

There’s an old saying in real estate that you should seek to make a profit when you buy, not only when you sell – and a large part of succeeding at that endeavour is buying a home in an area with desirable features that will enhance the resale value of your property.
