As the Green Point Stadium in Cape Town takes shape along with associated infrastructural improvements, the suburb itself continues to experience a revival with areas such as Somerset Road now considered a highly fashionable address for commercial property, says Selwyn Sharon, leasing, sales and investment consultant for Pam Golding Commercial.
"Adjacent to the trendy De Waterkant precinct and within walking distance of Cape Town's city centre and the V&A Waterfront, the Somerset Road area is conveniently situated with good access to major routes in and out of the city. Various developments in the vicinity, including the extension of the Cape Quarter, underline the confidence in the area and bode well for future return on investment," he says.
Currently two well-positioned, sectional title, interleading units of office space comprising a total of 178sqm have become available in the landmark Victoria Junction in Prestwich Street which is located just below Somerset Road. The units are being sold together with two secure undercover parking bays for the total purchase price of R3 million. Victoria Junction is a dual use, sectional building comprising both residential and office space.
Says Sharon: "With ample natural light and designed in a trendy industrial style with high ceilings, these would make ideal creative spaces for the likes of architects or advertising agencies – or any business which seeks a modern, aesthetically pleasing ambience in a vibrant hub. The first floor units include a terrace with views of Lion's Head." There is also a goods lift in the building.
