Tyson Properties Wins International Property Award

Tyson Properties has won one of the world’s most prestigious property titles – ‘Best Real Estate Agency’ - in the Europe & Africa Property Awards 2009 (in association with CNBC Arabia).

Tyson Properties is the first KwaZulu-Natal company to net one of the awards that identify the best real estate professionals across the globe. Only one other South African company has previously received this accolade.

“The fact that Tyson Properties has won one of these coveted awards is proof that KwaZulu-Natal can not only compete at an international level, but also triumph within the highly competitive European and African Property arenas,” said managing director Chris Tyson who will be jetting his way to London to receive the award at a high profile gala dinner at the Marriott Hotel in London’s Grosvenor Square on October 16.

Later this year, Europe & Africa Property Award winners compete against those from Asia Pacific, the UK, Americas and Arabia for the “World’s Best” title in each category.

Although Tyson Properties’ Morningside office is officially the “Best Real Estate Agency”, Tyson said that it was fitting to enter what was not only its first but its flagship office. It perfectly reflects Tyson Properties’ network of 11 offices across KwaZulu-Natal.

The Europe & Africa Property Award comes as the company celebrates its fourth anniversary. Property authority Chris Tyson and local businessman Gavin Cunningham established Tyson Properties in August 2005 in response to a need for a sophisticated real estate environment in Durban. It started out with a single real estate office and a staff of six servicing the residential sector. It now boasts a staff of 134 and some of the highest market shares in areas in which it operates.

“We focused on establishing a real estate office that offered exceptional services to top agents, providing them with a platform to excel,” Tyson explained. This included a strong corporate identity based on the city’s Art Deco buildings, strong marketing strategies plus signage and exceptional offices with state-of-the-art operating systems and back-up staff. Their web based agent office management system - effectively a paperless real estate office - was one of the first worldwide and has been used as a model by international real estate companies.

Tyson Properties has also aggressively promoted ongoing training for estate agents and established a sophisticated network of experts to provide legal, financial and insurance advice to clients.  Its agents can assist English, Afrikaans, Zulu, French, Portuguese, Italian and Spanish speaking clients.

“I firmly believe that we won this award because we have always focused on growth in sustainable areas and invested in the right people. This has resulted in a stable company and formed the foundation for continued growth,” said Tyson.

Tyson Properties not only opened another new branch last month, but achieved record sales in July. “These sales are the highest since we started, despite these very tough times. After the property market showed signs of crumbling in May 2008, Tyson Properties has soared to new heights to exceed all expectations. This is proof that determination and a zero tolerance for poor service delivery coupled with strong ethics and honest pay off,” he concluded.
