New Krugersdorp estate already selling

Although the new Silver Lakes estate near Krugersdorp has only just been launched, some 20 stands have already been sold to eager buyers.

So says Estelle Marais, sales manager of the Chas Everitt International West Rand franchise, which has the mandate to market the development. "The stands and homes on this estate are well-priced and offer good value for money. It is a classy development which despite the recession is attracting a lot of interest because there aren't many developments which offer such a high standard of living for under R2m," she notes.

"Silver Lakes is also very well located in an up-and-coming area. It is close to all major amenities as well as the Silverstar Casino, N14 highway and Walter Sisulu Botanical Gardens, but still has a country feel."

The new estate straddles the Crocodile River near Krugersdorp, and offers stands of between 500sqm and 800sqm at prices from R391 000, as well as plot-and-plan packages from R1,5m. Two, three and four-bedroom homes are available, and most include staff accommodation and a double garage.

Architectural guidelines are in place for those who will build their own homes, to ensure a measure of conformity and protect values, and once a stand is registered, buyers will have two years in which to complete construction.

Marais says the development as a whole has essentially been fashioned along the same lines as the nearby Featherbrooke Estate, albeit on a smaller scale. "Like Featherbrooke, Silver Lakes will be characterised by green, open parks, walkways and a riverfront.

"Meanwhile, the estate's internal roads have already been constructed, street lamps have been installed and the basic landscaping is almost complete. In addition, the guardhouse, electric fencing, 24-hour guard and security cameras are already in place."
