New mall for Groblersdal

Groblersdal Mall will introduce line-up of exceptional retail when it opens in the Limpopo town of Groblersdal on October 26, according to Gavin Tagg, chief executive of Retail Network Services, the full-service specialist in retail leasing and development for the centre.

The new 30 000m² regional shopping centre with around 100 new stores is being developed by Twin City Development, a property development and investment company focused on retail projects, with the leasing services of Retail Network and the design of Leon Jacobs Architects.

Twin City owns a growing portfolio of retail properties including Elim Mall, Lowveld Mall, Hazyview Junction, Twin City Burgersfort, Twin City Mall in Bloemfontein, Twin City Bushbuckridge and Paledi Mall.

Groblersdal Mall will be anchored by Pick n Pay, Edgars, Superspar and Woolworths. In addition, it will have line-up of market-matched retailers to fulfil the shopping needs of local consumers and visitors to the area, to create a relevant and appealing retail attraction.

Twin City managing director, Johan Visagie, says: “Groblersdal Mall is a compelling location for retailers. We’ve had a great response to the shopping centre, which is only the beginning of the new investment and development on the cards for Groblersdal.”

Situated just north of Loskop Dam, Groblersdal is a farming town in the heart of the Elias Motsoaledi Local Municipality, which is home to around 250 000 people. The centre will be next to the Groblersdal CBD with access from the R25 and with direct links to public transport amenities – bringing quality shopping right to the doorsteps of local residents.

The mall’s first phase will act as the catalyst for a bigger development node. Later phases are set to include further commercial property development, added-convenience retail as well as a hotel and offices, making it a mixed-use development with facilities not currently available in Groblersdal.

Tagg says that six months before opening, the mall is already 95% let, with the remaining vacancies reserved for key tenancies that have been identified to suit the market. Residents can look forward to a wide range of retail, services and facilities all within a safe and convenient setting.”

In addition to its top anchor tenants, Groblersdal Mall will also feature a mix of national fashion stores, eateries, entertainment and financial services with ample parking and uninterrupted power supply.

“As a regional shopping centre, Groblersdal Mall will complement the existing CBD while also speaking to all the modern elements of a secure and comfortable environment, easy access and a wide variety of choice,” says Tagg.
