Interior Inspiration - Set in stone

2017 seems like it is all about a return to the natural - polished rustic interiors are still big and reclaimed wood is still a darling in the interior design world - but stone is inching towards the limelight.

From new developments to revamps stone is everywhere and the door was perhaps opened by the grey tones from 2016 and we couldn’t be more in love with this trend.

Not only does it look good it also has other benefits - natural stone has beneficial thermal mass (the ability of a material to store heat and slowly release it), which creates a higher indoor ambient air temperature. Energy efficiency has never looked so good!

Because of the high demand for green building practices and materials, architects and designers are harnessing everything from the obvious aesthetic appeal to the solar reflectance benefits of natural stone. Adding in regionally sourced materials, as well as recycled stone from century-old barns and other structures, architects and builders are able to provide homeowners with the green building materials and practices they’re looking for.

Take a look at some of the examples of stone interiors we love
