Estate Living - Top residential estates in South Africa

The popularity of residential estates in South Africa doesn’t show any sign of slowing down which can be attributed to the security and lifestyle they offer. We take a look at a few of these estates and what they offer home buyers.

Situated in the scenic Paarl, Val De Vie is much more than just a residential estate - from the breathtaking properties to the awe inspiring views, this estate sells the good life. Val De Vie also recently merged with the highly ranked Pearl Valley making it a truly self-contained estate.

Val De Vie features vineyards, polo fields, an equestrian center, golf course, natural fynbos scenery, parks, lakes and incredible mountain backdrops.

With features such as a natural lagoon and forest it is easy to see why Zimbali is often referred to as the most picturesque estates in South Africa. Situated only 45 kilometers from Ballito, Zimbali is the perfect place to call home if you want a quieter lifestyle while still being in close proximity to city conveniences.

The estate is a bird-lover’s paradise with an impressive bird species calling it home, including a very rare Crowned Eagle (the largest eagle in Africa.)

The launch of Steyn City set the South African property landscape abuzz with anticipation - still in its infancy, Steyn City is already positioned to become the estate to beat all other estates. Spread out over 900 hectares it is the largest estate in South Africa in terms of land size and is situated between Fourways and Lanseria in Johannesburg.

There are plans to add two private schools, offices, convenience shopping, a retirement village and a private hospital.

Another new estate, Highland Gate Golf and Trout Estate situated in the picturesque Dullstroom area, at the foothills of the Steenkampsberg plateau, is an estate like no other.

Featuring an Ernie Els designed course that is reminiscent of a links-style golf course and breathtaking views, this estate is slowly becoming a weekend getaway destination for buyers from Johannesburg and Pretoria.

Featuring some of the most spectacular homes in South Africa, Atlantic Beach Estate in Cape Town is not only popular with wealthy buyers but is also a wildlife sanctuary, with several wild animals such as antelope living on the property.
