Mountain views, modern homes and relaxed country living in a secure family environment – buyers can have it all at the new Marine Island development in The Islands luxury lifestyle estate on the southern shores of the Hartbeespoort Dam.

Contemporary cluster homes in the new Marine Island development in The Islands estate at Hartbeespoort Dam are now available off-plan through Chas Everitt International, at prices from R2,95m including VAT to just under R3,3m including VAT. Buyers need a R30 000 deposit to secure their unit.

“Marine Island, which we are now marketing off-plan, offers contemporary cluster homes that have been carefully designed to maximize views over fresh-water canals towards the Magaliesberg mountains,” says Iris Venter, the area specialist for the Chas Everitt International property group.

These 260sqm sectional title homes offer three ensuite bedrooms and open-plan kitchen/ dining/ living areas leading out to covered entertainment patios and decks with swimming pools. They also have separate sculleries, guest facilities, heat pump geysers, built-in braais, single garages and boat sheds.

Prices range from R2,95m including VAT to just under R3,3m including VAT for homes on the canal front with their own boat jetties. There is no transfer duty payable but buyers need a R30 000 deposit to secure a unit.

“Owners of the Marine Island homes will also have full access to all the attractions of The Islands, which has 6km of crystal-clear navigable waterways and is one of the most sought-after estates in the Hartbeespoort Dam area,” Venter notes.

This system of canals meanders between the luxury waterfront homes in The Islands, and enables boat owners to gain access to the Hartbeespoort Dam itself via two bi-directional water locks. The water in the system is kept pristine by being circulated through an artificial wetland system that consists of a series of interconnecting dams covered with water-loving plants and reeds.

Environmental protection is also a major focus of the development and the estate not only provides for its own water needs but also recycles its wastewater for irrigating the grass verges. Indigenous trees are protected and relocated if necessary and the wetlands and dams have become home to a wide variety of birds and other wildlife, as have the estate’s extensive parkland areas.

Safe walking trails have been laid out across an 8ha communal park at the centre of The Islands and in greenbelt areas between the houses, and other outdoor facilities include a multifunctional sports oval and terraced amphitheatre as well as a nine-hole mashie golf course, two tennis courts and a chess garden.

There is also a 420sqm clubhouse with function facilities, pool and waterfront access. Nearby shopping facilities include the Village Mall, Sediba Plaza and the Mountain Lake Shopping Centre, and for families who would like to make The Islands their permanent home, the prestigious Pecanwood College is close by on the adjacent Pecanwood Estate.

And indeed, says Venter, upgrades to the major roads leading to the Hartbeespoort Dam have made the area an increasingly popular permanent residential choice for professionals and executives who work in northern Johannesburg or Pretoria, but want to live somewhere more peaceful and relaxed.
