Luxury ‘bespoke’ homes on offer in new Somerset West estate

In the new Featherbrooke Private Estate in Somerset West, 19 homeowners are about to embark on a collaborative journey with master architect Yvette Buitendag to create a definitive statement in ‘bespoke’ living.

“Each owner will work individually with the architect to craft a distinctive home that exactly suits his or her personal tastes and needs while co-existing with the classical guidelines of the estate,” says Rose McFall of Chas Everitt International in Somerset West, who is marketing the new estate.

“The developer has taken a bold approach here by enabling those who buy homes in Featherbrooke to help conceptualise their own living spaces, while still being part of an estate where the ‘bigger picture’ has been taken into consideration.”

Overlooking the original Parel Vallei homestead at the foot of the Helderberg, the estate has been designed to complement the natural surroundings and remain true to the architectural history of the Cape, she says.

“The existing oak trees will be preserved and for the home exteriors, a timeless classical design was chosen, incorporating rural elements, natural stone elements and grey roof tiles. The interiors of the homes will reflect the very best elements of contemporary design and boast state-of-the art finishes. Overall, homes will be designed to flow from the inside out to the gardens via patios and courtyards.”

Gourmet kitchens and opulent finishes are a given, says McFall, with construction being undertaken by the Swieg Group, which is renowned for its painstaking attention to detail.

“Security is paramount and the estate will have 24/7 manned access control. It will also offer residents panoramic views of False Bay, the dramatic Hottentots Holland range and the Helderberg.

“Just five minutes’ drive from Erinvale Golf Estate, 10 minutes from some of the Cape’s finest beaches and 45 minutes from the Cape Town CBD,  the estate represents the epitome of convenience and style.”

She also says that property in Somerset West has proved to be an excellent investment, as values in the area have more than doubled over the past 10 years.

Prices in Featherbrooke Private Estate start at R4,9m, including VAT. There is no transfer duty payable.
