SANDF Houses at Nkandla - dirty and unfurnished

After earlier reports of the 21 empty two-bedroomed SA National Defence Force homes situated outside of Nkandla’s perimeter, an inspection has revealed that the homes were dirty and unfurnished.

Lead inspector Zwile Zulu, from the Police Ministry, said if the SANDF or SA Police Service members wanted to stay in the houses they would have to furnish them themselves.

Last month, Police Minister Nathi Nhleko told reporters in Pretoria that the biggest portion of the money spent on the security upgrades to Zuma’s home was used to build the houses, which cost R135.2m.

That is R6 million per house - for comparison these three houses also costs around R6 million each.
