Tarrystone up for sale

Tarrystone the Upper Constantia, Cape Town estate where Princess Diana often visited her brother, Earl Spencer, has come onto the market it was announced this week.

There is no price attached to the listing as of yet, instead Seeff announced that it will be offered on sale by tender. This method is usually employed when the value of the property is difficult to determined and according to Seeff has proven very effective in other cases.

Although the home has been renovated, the suite in which Princess Diana stayed in has been preserved as it was.

Located just off Southern Cross Drive it comprises around two acres of land and has views over False Bay.The double-storey home comprises about 1 100m² in floor space with large rooms, double-volume ceilings, state of the art security (including a guardhouse), several guest cottages, a manager’s office, two separate staff quarters, private vineyards, a tennis court, fully equipped gym room, Jacuzzi, koi pond and a swimming pool.

The home and cottages can be sold fully furnished with or without the art that alone is valued at about R10m. The finishes include imported Venetian chandeliers and there is even a 10-seater cinema/media room.

The vineyard currently produces about 300 bottles of private label Pinotage wine each year.
