Soweto at a glance

The well known urban area on the outskirts of Johannesburg has grown from its tumultuous past to become a world-renowned tourist destination and prime home buying node

Once the home to the mine workers from the various mines in the area, Soweto has grown to become home to various economic classes - boasting with different properties from small starter homes to large mansions.

The town is a melting pot of cultures and it is reflected in the colourful landscape, from restaurants serving local cuisine to world-class shopping facilities at the Maponya Mall. The town is also the destination of choice of many sporting fans - from the soccer fans, rugby fans and runners who partake in the Soweto Marathon each year.

The FNB Stadium also known as Soccer City has played host to world-class soccer matches during the Soccer World Cup and AFCON tournaments. But don’t be fooled that it is just the sport fans visiting the iconic building, the stadium has played host to many international music acts.

Soweto reflects the multicultural society that South Africa prides itself on and the growth of this area doesn’t seem to slow down. It is shaping up to become one of the crowning jewels in the South African property market.
